Grubb's Diner - Huntingdon, PA

Retail development prompted the closure of this Huntingdon landmark. Jerry Grubb wasn't going to let his diner be demolished. During the summer of 2007 the diner was removed from its foundation. Though its future is in question. Cori Bolger of the Altoona Mirror reports the diner was moved a short distance up the road and is stored on the Huntingdon Motor Inn property.

Jerry Grubb is willing to give the diner away. However, you will need to move the diner to a new location and put it back into service. Jerry may be contacted at (814) 643-1133.

Former Forum Diner - Paramus, NJ

While we were looking at the pictures of the White Tower in Michael Perlman's flickr photostream, we were reminded of the fast approaching deadline for saving the Forum Diner. This blog posted an entry back in June about the diner needing to be moved. A month ago it looked like the diner may have had a buyer. However the Paramus Post wrote an article that they changed their mind. This past Sunday the NewJerseyOnline.com site reported time is running out for the Forum. It could be demolished in two weeks if it isn't sold and moved. If you are interested in saving the landmark diner contact Michael Perlman right away at unlockthevault@hotmail.com.

Steve and Angelo Yannitsadis commissioned the Fodero Dining Car Company to build the diner in the mid-1960's. We've found an article mentioning the diner opened in 1967. Ted Laoudis was the owner of record when the diner closed the first part of April 2007.

Former White Tower - Toledo, OH

While the White Tower may not be the traditional diner; reminiscent of the train car style, we thought a recent news article may be of interest. Earlier this year, the building was reported being for sale. An article in yesterday's Toledo Blade mentions the building has been sold to Rumpf Development, Ltd. It will taken apart and moved from its Jefferson Avenue location in the coming weeks. After restoration it is expected to reopen at the corner of Ontario and Monroe. flickr pro unlockthevault (Michael Perlman) has posted a series of pictures here.
