After a thorough cleaning and some renovations, James Craven of the Bristol Press reported the Main Street Diner has reopened. Frank and Kathy Loukoumis purchased the diner towards the end of last year. Read the entire article here.

It was during the summer of 2007 when we last visited the diner. Underneath the brick exterior is a 1950s Master built diner. Though not as common on the diner landscape as say an O'Mahony or DeRaffele built diners, others do exist. A quick check of our diner database returned the closest other operating Master diner. About eighty miles up I-91 is Al's Diner in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

Another query of the database for other classic diners located in the city or town with the name "Plainville." Massachusetts is at the top of the list again with a 1950's Mountain View Diner named Don's Diner.

Next time we are in the area we'll stop by the Main Street and have a full report.
