Today In Diner History. . .

On this date in 1900, Worcester, Massachusetts resident Thomas H. Buckley was issued patent number 658425, titled "Window-Stool for Lunch-Wagons." Here is a quote from the patent.
"The object of my invention is to make a window-stool which will absolutely prevent the entrance of rain or water under the window-sash and between the sheathing of the wagon on the exterior and the interior thereof and also prevent any bulging or checking of the sheathing or paneling and also strengthen the frame of the wagon."
